Dismantling has begun...
Doors are off as is the "Nose" section, seats removed and radiator... Next job is to get ready to lift the shell off the chassis...

Hey Simon does the CA have a full chassis That would make it easy for engine swaps with the body off Cheers Reid
-
hi simon, on its way today.. cost $8.30 nz.
thanks
David

I think it is indeed a full chassis, Ried - I'm going to have a go at reworking the original engine, for originality, but it would indeed be a doddle to swap engines with that set up.
Cheers David will send the P&H back to you by return post...

OMG - Has it really been 18 months since I first posted... Damn - well thats what having a baby will do to you..:)
I need some info.. While researching I have found that the van isn't a 1965 as first thought, but is somewhere between 1959 and 1964. Have not a freakin clue!
Which brings me to my question - Are there any places on the web where you can decode a Bedford CA (Assembled in Australia) Vin/chassis number?
The compliance plates are not helpful and are in fact Holden ones (Being assembled by Holden I guess it makes sense)
Apparently I have a:
76 - Body
1008 - Trim
S8 - Paint
Chassis is CALV221206M
Restoration is over half way, painted the chassis today, at long last.

gee i didnt know they had a full chassis!! i want a full chassis. would be so handy to be able to swap bodies over and have it still on the same rego:(
-
Hey Brother good to see you back New baby's can take up a lot off your time but you seem to have got a fair bit done That chassis looks good the mind boggles as to what you could doo to that The body seemes to be in good nick Have fun Cheers Reid

hooray for CA's! looks like a MKI. i had a MKI and a MKII camper that went to sydney last month. the difference is basically the windscreen is a lot smaller on the MKI. i also have a MKII van (ex PMG) which will one day get done.
hope to see some more updates!
