hey guys, I spoke with this Guy this morning and it seems a little odd.
He says he hasnt owned it for long but didnt say how long.
then told me that is doesnt like to be driven anywhere around 100ks per hr as it heats up even after he has put a new radiator and thermos in it
I sked him if it would make it 250ks and he said it should if you drove carefully???
then I said that I was sure I had seen it at 8000.00 a year ago and he said no, but was very vague about it.
any ideas anyone?

hey hotrod, went and had a look at that one when he wanted 5,000k for it. nice interior still a little bit rough. man everything is so custom on that van!! even the wheel arches arent standard! round tube has been welded in there. also the panels at the side have been "professionally" welded in flat but you can stil see where they have welded.

cammers $800 is a bit too much for a parts van:(

Yeah mate that's your opinion.

Split the thing up and sell the parts separately you'd emake you money and more. Had a heap of calls after parts I just ned to get rid of it in one go.

Post by: Cammers on October 22, 2009, 01:38:13 PM
you can do more with it than just parts if you have some time and skill, I just had that many calls about parts I figured it would be more profitable for someone to buy it and sell the bits.

Anyway it'll be gone one way or another.. I need the space for my EH.

She's sold.

It needed more work than I had the time or space to give it, was getting to me seeing it just sitting in the garage.

I initally bought it as a project that I was going to get my father to work on with me as he was retired and at a loose end with time filling activities, but unfortunately 6 months after I bought it my father passed away suddenly from cancer. So it was more of a sentimental thing that made me hang on to it and I had every intention of finsihing it off but family life and such got in the way. I bought myself an EH as a daily driver a few years back and so this time I'm sinking the cash into something that's already in a pretty good condition.

I've met the fella buying the van and he seems like a decent bloke so what ever happens I know someone is getting some good use out of it. He also visits the BUGA site, so I better say nice things.. :)

cheers!

Okay .. black beddy man says he gets ". I get one months driving on $60 woth of gas, around 50km per day. "

Thats pretty damn good ..is it really 25kms per litre?
or am i working it out wrong.. and how can he be getting that?

it has a 120ltr gas tank inside ...

and it may be sold tomorrow .. like you said ben . there is a bidding war going on ..

ahh .. anyone in adelaide fancy checking it out for me??

1500kms for $60 gas??? :o
Title: Re: ebay beddy's
Post by: matty on October 27, 2009, 11:01:23 PM
I'm guessing its a 120 litre tank and does it get used on the weekends as well?

22 working days is only 1100 kay dividing that by
                                  120 Lt of gas  equals
9.1k's per litre of gas or 11L per 100ks

or at 1500ks per 120L of gas would be 12.5ks per litre or 8Litres per 100k's

I think that would be hard but possible with easy driving and a well tuned motor, I got my bomb down to
about 15L of petrol per 100k on the freeway.

my 600 sports bike gets 7 to 8 litres per 100k's

I hope those numbers all add up correctly

yeh its possible but highly unlikey. infact i dont think its possible for a beford to gain that sort of econ.

reason being they are just pushing way to much air. and running a 308 (supposed to be a gas guzzler) and running gear to go with it the van would weight 2Ton,

best ive got out of this van with the overdrive and everything is 6km to litre. which i think is exceptional

we are also basing figures on estimations.. when someones selling something everything seems to get exaggerated also..

but sounds pretty economical

read all the guff and feedback on lpg and the average appears to be 5k/litre (even for newer cars, falcons, prados etc)
Had a cl se regal 318 auto on gas and only got 3.5 - 4 k per litre bit thirsty but not far off the mark
so with a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick outhouse and an old technology v8 you could only expect around 600k from a 120l tank
maybe it was $60 gas AND $100 petrol to do 1200-1500 k

might have had a hole cut in the floor also so he can use his feet to gain better econ..???

mm.. okay .. chatted heaps and tried to get it .. but too many others in there battling as well.
to me it sounds like he doesn't really know bedfords at all.. he had it 3 yrs and didnt do anything but put in electric windows and power locks ..

he said one guy climbed under and had a good look at the engine to figure out how it worked and what had been done to get such good fuel economy .. sounds like something to do with the carby set up and an oversized filter? ,.. anyway .. that guy wanted it on the spot..

he did tell me that a while back someone ran up all excited at a service station and wanted to see in the van to see how it was now .. cause some years back it was an award winner of some kind for some amazing set up .. and that it was all smoothly decked out with a disco ball etc .. said there was still traces of that .. but most gone now .. perhaps the same owner made some amazing set up in the engine that would be great to know?

even if he was exaggerating with fuel economy .. look on the cynical side and its still pretty good ..
but .. i missed it ..

it has either gone to a girl who fought it out with a guy on his front door step .. a guy in melbourne who wanted to spend 10k on it and make it a working advertisment and run around car for his business (wish he would just get a bombed out one and fix it up) or a guy in perth ...
my hopes are for the guy in perth .. whoever that may be..

licking my wounds and diverting my attentions ..

cheers,
joe.

the black one looks sweet, body wise looks straight, tho the photos dont tell much of a REAL story..
I like that the interior isn't fully done up, i want another LWD that has no interior so i can do m own thing.. I dont like the 308 tho, but a 350 is an easy conversion especially with a TH400.

The one with the 400 chev would almost have me sold just for the motor, but the body looks like some work had been done, so you then have to question the quality.. i have enough work on my own van to deal with..

The green one looks like the cream of the crop, almost original, plenty of room for customisation, and the body looks good (rust SOUNDS minimal..) pull out the engine, box, diff and you'd have a sweet ride, then you can start making a REAL interior ;)

tempting.. tempting...
