Warning Country SA Cops, Hating Bedfords.
sounds harsh but true.
there's been cops around the Snowtown area picking on bedfords.
he got me for a tire, but wanted to try for rust.
he apparently just got another icecream bedford like 20minutes before hand, oily motor etc..
im from adelaide an the cops here laughed that the country cops get off picking on old classic cars like bedfords.
an just to let you know he was picking on the bedford, there was a car behide me that looked like a roo hit the motor an was crumbled up, but he left them alone just to try an get the bedford off the road..
if bedfords are supposed to have dead bodies inside, i could think of a couple..lol
-
I was worried about that, i think the actual reason isnt dead bodies, but drug trafficing. Marijuana is plentyfull in SA and cheap, and alot of people bring it over to victoria (i assume other states also) to get better prices.
Id say that if any van had gone past they would have picked it up also.

G'day
I think you will find that it is any old car at the moment.
Recently a friend got pulled up in a VR Commodore Wagon that had just passed rego and the cops went over it looking for something to book her for. A mate with an older Ford camper van told me that the NSW RTA are now making home visits inspecting old cars that have just passed rego.

thats a great idea i recon,
it ensures there are no dangerous shitboxes on our roads.

I agree to a certain extent. I always make sure my vehicles are roadworthy, but an overzealous public servant can always find something wrong, and they do. The glee in their eyes when they know they are going to cause un-necessary expense.
However most are OK , but it is the few that make life difficult.
-
kirk, ive never had any trouble driving bedfords, and ive travelled interstate and all over the place, cant say my vans are very roadworthy, id like to think they are but there is always stuff going wrong with them and not enough hours in the day to fix them.
if its neat they shouldnt bother you,.

I got pulled up at an 'old car stopping station' 90 km out of melbourne
they were pulling everything over 20 years old for a look.
not thorough, just reg and tires and obvious defects.
they were polite and friendly, no problem
-
never had or want any dead body,s in mine,
had quite va few hot body,s though :)

I work shift work and have been pulled over 4 times in 3 weeks.... the reason? My dark Bedford is a suspicious looking vehicle. No kidding!!! I asked the cops and this was the reason I was told. I have lived here for 7 years and these are the only times I have been pulled over by the police. They must feel really let down when they see little ol me in my maccas managers uniform!!!!! No police discount for them anymore!! ;D

So basicly since i know nothing about bodywork or fibreglassing to fix up the rust comming up in the gutter's.
im beddy, the one i want to be burred in, will be taken of the road..
thats so sad to hear..
does'nt the government know we all cant afford $20,000 for a car less than 20yrs old..
Im on the disabled pension im not rich, but when i brought my bedford it made me feel like the richest man in the world..
i always thought it was jealous, cause they dont have one..
i just dont like the law that states, a cop can say there is a fault with the van, after all the hassle of getting it checked an getting a report back saying no fault. the cop that orginaly said there was a fault, gets away with it.
Eg it's called Police Harassment, certain cops out there like to pick on certain people just for the fun of it with no true facts of anything.
As for the Inspection of the back area of the van, well lets just say every time im pulled over there looking in the back,
probably looking for the 10 dead cops i transported last week.. ;D an the weed crop i grow in there while i travel.. :D
Get a Life cops an due your job, not harass bedford owners, who like a shagin wagon on wheels.. (an not hit your head)

i have had a few people in geelong warn me that i will be pulled over alot once i get the beddy on the road...
they seem to think that the cops will think im a hoon just because of the type of car i choose ::)
others say cops will just pull it over out of interest if it looks in good nick. i have seen this behavior in geelong in my younger days when cops pull over friends older cars that have been restored and say "sorry i just wanted to have at look at the car"... they are human too but i think its a slight abuse of powers to pull people over for a gander.
either that or its using the persons pride in their work to illegally search the vehicle?

they will pull you over cause your a van, or follow (tailgate) you just to make you do something wrong.
they use the random breathteast to pull u over. (even the cop said i expected it to be 0 at this hour)
they love to have a search in the back, an will go an far as to get you to do the moving of the stuff.
if you dont comply a yellow canary will be issued for anything he fancys.. (so i have been told)
but i have sorta solved the cops doing what they want.. just tell them there on video servailance in an around the van..
reversing cammera an a dome cammera in the frount does that trick..
then they do there job an be polite.. (just incase i send a copy off to there boss).
-
what the???? i cant remember the last time i got pulled over.. and i do like 1,000kms a week, so if its anyone it would be me. 2 weeks ago drove to sydney, last week drove to muldura top of the state.

i think its part of their job description... they get taught to hate panelvans as part of their curriculum too ::) as for the nuff in cristeebrook....nah...he woz just born a right proper.... ..heard a few petty,s turn into horror stories starrin him around the area.. tend to give that area a miss if can.. 1 in brinkworth too prob his brother... apparently they hang out together ..mainly i think so,s they can get their IQ,s into double figures..take em in yor stride all part n parcel of lifes rich tapestry wen u share yor life wiv a beddie..
-
hey Skippy u from crystalbrook sa?
i just had a girlfriend come up n stay with me a week from there.
-
sort of marty.... the centre of the known universe :D (appila) is bout 40 kms from crystalbrook so its not far but far enough for the tard in blue there to not have to patrol out my way.. jamestown cops cover my area ..IQ is a bit higher & attitude more tranquilo thankfully
