Title: SA Bedford
Post by: MPN780 on August 14, 2009, 03:17:05 PM
Hi all,

purchased a 1985 bedford cf250 last year, it is registered in SA as a Jurgens Cruis-O-Van. Managed to fit a 350 chevy v8 with 350 turbo box to make towing easier (and to have some more fun). Electronic ignition went in last month, she now runs smoothly and strongly. Have been wanting to fit power steering but can not find an installer in my area. By the way I live in Brakpan, Gauteng, South africa. Does anyone know of people i could contact this side of the world that would be able to assist me with the above. i'm not a mechanical genius (I can hold my own though i.e. egine overall, fitment done with help).

hello there over in South Africa, welcome aboard beddie brother, are you following the tri nations? if so maybe you can ask one of the bokie players to call in and pick up a power steering unit to take back for you  ;D nice van by the way, can we see more pics ?

Hi guys

Thanks for the response and welcome received, Baz NZ- thanks for the links, I have decided to go with the Transit donor set up as it seems the easier of the lot, also I managed to find a Transit rack (free) must just send it in for service and to have the required shortning and rethreading done. will keep you posted with pics. Eddy- yes could drop an email to the boks to bring said parts but i dont think they will have the required space on the plane. The return of the Tri Nations Cup to SA would obviously take up any available space in the cargo hold. ;D LOL. hunterbynature- Check rand/dollar exchange you'll find you could travel to SA and shoot yourself a Kudu, for less than the cost of a Macdonalds happy meal over on your side. I have attached some more pics as requested. Will post more as i get to know how the site works.

Hi All

Thanks for comps, hours of blood sweat and tears. Dont think my wife will let me do that again. Posted more photos in the gallery section. In response to question i've had no complaints about heat from passengers yet. After power steering is done next job will be to get the aircon back in working condition. Had a look at the gallery section and saw some awesome mods that i would like to attempt, i.e. REDBACK sliding drivers door and THEBEAST's hinged (hydraulic???) side door and wheel arch flares from numerous other vans.
