Nice work so far mate, well done.
Is that just spray on primer you're using?
-
hey shane, the black is por15 with eguipment enamel over top, the grey on the fire wall is silver por 15 and the bronze is a conductive paint so you can spray those places you cant get before you weld, made for seam and spot welding etc
-
ahh yes por15. I have used a fair bit of this stuff in the past. Do you spray it on or brush it on?
-
you can spray it in but i prefer to brush it on, the silver is the best iv'e used it seems to fill any small indentations in the steel, im on about my 4th litre tin, i sandblasted all the underside and painted with the silver por15 then topcoated with silver hammerite, it looks good and givs a good hard industrial finish, i use the camper for a lot of hunting and fishing so get down a lot of those back country tracks, have painted every thing underneath i could, hopefully wont have to crawl under ther for another few years anyways :D
-
Sandblasted? Damm. I don't have one of those :'(
-
i took it to the loacal sandblasters and had them do it, cost 200 bucks and a box of beer, i think he drank the box of beer before he started going by the bits he missed anyway now have a portable blaster myself, uses glass beads, great for those smaller things
-
wow, thats the way 2 do it, great work ,
looks better than orig Stevo.
-
Hey HBN
Do you use the rust stabiliser before you paint with the Por15? as in do you do the whole sytem thing, or just use it as a good paint ?
Warren
-
thanks marty, put a whole lot of hours into it,
hey warren, painted por15 straight on to the raw metal, they recommend paint on to sandblasted metal is the best it etches on real good, rusty steel is also good, you can paint a tye coat on aswell when tacky so you can top coat or sand it before top coating, its awsome stuff, you can also get a clear coat por15 which is actually better and stronger than a gell coat for fiberglass, cheers stevo
