Title: Looking For B&M Shifter with cable and brackets... For my Trimatic:)
Post by: Kirk on July 24, 2009, 11:31:36 PM
Hey guys, well ive decided im gunna get the Guys at Brakes Plus to do the Auto Conversion as well, so I just need the Shift, they suggested a B&M shifter, new is pretty pricey, but Matt at Brakes Plus got on ebay with me and we saw one going at about $150 at the time, just wondering if anyone had 1 lying about, that would love to see it go to a good home ;) Would be a couple of weeks till i could buy it, but im keen....and if anyone has any links to other shifters that do as good a job and are cheaper, then let me know:)

:D  Don't know whether this is of any use at all, but; it appears that a lot of  late model "Jap crap" auto sedans have a cable operated auto g/change. Only reason I know this, is that my sons, 1995 Hyundai Sonata (race car has it)  Obviously, A bit of ingenuity would be required to make this work, but a much cheaper option!!!

I have a cable type shifter that was in the boot of a Torana I bought,
have been told it was to suit turbo 350 / 400 so can't see why it wouldn't work on trimatic

G'day

I have a B&M shifter in the truck and am not real impressed with it. It is fancy looking but it is not robust and has broken a few times. Actually it is broken again.
Years a go I modified a car shifter making the gearshift longer and the lever arm longer. It worked very well in the van.
