My beedy stalls when idling, i've changed fuel pump, but with same results...can some help me???

G'day
I'm only a bush mechanic, but stalling is a sign that something is wrong.
There are a lot of possible causes.
Start with the carby, but you probably nedd to do a full service, checking compression, timing, spark plugs etc.

Hi Ronny
As Chris has said there can be a lot of things wrong.
A good aproach is to start with the simplest/cheapest things and work your way through.
Some suggestions are:
Air Filter, is it new/clean?
Idle settings, is it set to low?
Fuel filter, is it blocked?
spark plugs, are they gapped properly? what colour are they?
spark plug leads, are the in good working order? connected properly?
Points, are they Gapped correctly?
Timing, is it set correctly?
Carby, is it worn out and in need of a rebuild?
Compression, is it OK?
Its just a matter of being methodical and going through each thing until you solve it.
I had a problem with my beddy stalling some times at idle, but only when I had my foot on the brakes. WTF!
Turned out that the diaphram in the vacum assisted brake booster had a slight hole, and was allowing exta air to be sucked into the manafold, leaning out the mixture, and thus stalling the motor.
Have fun solving it.

Yep good advice guys....I have found over the years of mucking around with cars, is to check all the hoses that connect to the manifold and carby for any that have come loose or have splits in them . ;D cheers...johnno

before you go replacing a fuel pump isn't it easy to have the motor turning over and take off the hose to see if you are getting the correct out put flow?
my everyday car used to have the same stalling problem and even stalled taking low speed turns.
the revs were getting to low so i fiddles with the old idle speed and problem was solved.

my advice is check and change one thing at a time then test.
nothing worse then having the same problem happen again later and not really
knowing what it was that fixed it the first time cause you just changed everything.

If you are running a Holden 6 with an old points distributer then check the points and the cam dwell first. Replace points if pitted, reset the timing and adjust the idle speed. Do those steps before looking at anything else.

check for vacumm leaks, bedford boosters are bad for leaking (idle while change when brake is down than is up)
and on a holden 6 check the relief valve, the one that runs from carb or manifold to back of tappet/rocker cover, pull it out of cover and put your thumb/finger over the end, idle should increase when blocked, run rough when out uncovered
